Research Square Lab Wins Award of Merit for Best Renovation

The office-to-lab conversion entailed repositioning two existing office buildings and their surrounding site to include a combination of office, lab, amenity, and lab-ready white box spaces.

Transforming Spaces

We are excited to announce that Research Square Labs has been recognized with an Award of Merit for Best Renovation - Adaptive Reuse/Conversion at the 22nd Annual NAIOP DC|MD Awards of Excellence Gala. This life science conversion project exemplifies our commitment to transforming spaces to meet our clients’ evolving needs.

The new modular labs are designed and built to trophy-class standards, offering the highest quality and precision.

NAIOP DC|MD’s Awards of Excellence recognize projects that stand out in terms of design, functionality, and community impact, and we are honored that Research Square Labs has been acknowledged among the best. The project was completed in collaboration with our key partners: Altus Realty as the owner and client, Gensler as the architect, and WB Engineering as the engineering firm. Together, we successfully converted the space into a cutting-edge life science facility, meeting the demands of one of the most dynamic industries.

Excellence in Life Science & Technology

Jason Shaw, CWC’s Science & Technology expert, said "Research Square Labs exemplifies the power of collaboration and innovative design in the life sciences sector. Working with our talented project partners, we transformed an existing, outdated office space into a state-of-the-art facility that meets the rigorous demands of modern life sciences. This award underscores our commitment to delivering high-performance environments that foster discovery and growth.”

The CWC project team celebrated with Gensler at the NAIOP DC|MD Awards of Excellence

This award is particularly meaningful as it marks the third consecutive year that one of our life science projects has been honored at the NAIOP Awards. Our Kite Pharma TCF05 Cell Therapy Manufacturing Facility project was named Best Life Science Project in 2022, followed by Precision Labs in 2023. Continuing this tradition of excellence, Research Square Labs highlights our expertise in adaptive reuse and our commitment to pushing the boundaries of life science construction.

Congratulations to the entire project team for their hard work and dedication. We look forward to delivering even more innovative projects in the years to come!
