About the JDRF Real Estate Games
Coakley & Williams Construction (CWC) participated in the 2022 JDRF Real Estate Games to support its mission of raising awareness among Members of Congress of the financial, medical and emotional costs of Type 1 diabetes. CWC had over 60 competitors and spectators. We are proud to have played a role in the JDRF Real Estate Games raising over $615,000 for Type 1 diabetes.
CWC Helps Raise over $615,000 Type 1 Diabetes Research
For the first time since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the CWC Summer interns and employees spent the workday at American University in our third place winning, Batman-themed team T-shirts and supported one another in over ten events. Several of our team members found success in their respective events. Project Manager, Eddie Rupp, and Project Engineer, Lindsey Aguzin, won their doubles match in tennis and Project Engineer Woody Crosby placed second in the men’s 100 M dash,
Summer intern, Dallas Brooks participated in the 4x100 meter relay along with Project Engineers, Adriana Amaya, Woody Crosby and Preconstruction Manager, Byron Mayorga. The team earned third place!

We were proud to sponsor A Wider Circle’s “Home Reimagined” event, a day of volunteering that involved furnishing and decorating a home for one of their clients in Southeast Washington, DC. Director of Strategic Partnerships Tyler Merrill and Pursuit Coordinator Sophia Ford spent the day volunteering to make the home makeover a success.
We are excited to announce that our Managing Principal & Chief Strategy Officer, Lynn Stith Bennett, has joined the Board of Directors for the JDRF Mid-Atlantic Chapter! JDRF is the world’s largest nonprofit funder of Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) research whose vision is to create a world without T1D.
This October, the Blue Skye/CWC joint venture team, as well as design-build partner VMDO-DC, teamed up with Associated Builders and Contractors of Metro Washington & ABC Chesapeake Shores Chapter at our Truesdell Elementary School construction project to gear up for Careers in Construction Month.
Some of our team members volunteered at Camp NAWIC (National Association for Women in Construction), a free national program organized by the National Association of Women in Construction that introduces young women to various career opportunities in the construction industry.

Construction is in full swing at Landon School in Bethesda, MD. Amid all the activity on campus, some of our CWC team members have taken off their hard hats and spent some time inside Landon’s classrooms to pass along knowledge to students.
