Blue Skye/CWC Teams up for Careers in Construction Month, Inspiring Students at Truesdell Elementary

This October, the Blue Skye/CWC joint venture team, as well as design-build partner VMDO-DC, teamed up with Associated Builders and Contractors of Metro Washington & ABC Chesapeake Shores Chapter at our Truesdell Elementary School construction project to gear up for Careers in Construction Month. In this nationwide campaign that increases public awareness of construction careers to inspire the next generation of craft professionals, we collaborated through a live reading of the children's book called 'Grit Leads to Greatness,’ authored and produced by ABC member Delmarva Veteran Builders, LLC., to make a direct impact within our community to change the way the world sees the construction industry!

A big thank you to Project Manager Megan Ross for leading the event, as well as authors Christopher Eccleston and Jenny Kerr Schroen, and readers, Gabby Mustafa, Edward Stewart III, Naaji Drayton, and Lawrence Lazarides. The 3rd graders had a fantastic time reading about the epic quest built to change the world!

Megan said, “It was a great experience bringing together the school community to read Grit Leads to Greatness! The children really enjoyed the book and lit up when they came into the hall and saw Mason the Mason there to take photos. CWC, Blue Skye Construction, and VMDO-DC were happy to join this growing national conversation to get kids excited about construction!”
