CWC Named ABC National Contractor of the Year

National recognition highlights 65 years of building projects, partnerships, and careers across the DMV.

We are proud to share that CWC has been named the 2026 National Contractor of the Year by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), one of the construction industry’s most respected honors.

Presented during the 36th annual Excellence in Construction® Awards at the ABC Convention in Salt Lake City, the award recognizes contractors for corporate integrity and commitment to health and safety, workforce development and delivering high-quality construction.

This recognition reflects the dedication of our employees and the trust our clients and partners place in us every day.

“Every action we take contributes to building something,” said CEO Lynn Stith Bennett. “That includes the places where people live, learn and work, but also the careers, relationships and communities built along the way.”

Founded in 1961, Coakley & Williams Construction has delivered projects across education, government, life sciences, mission-critical and multifamily markets throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

President Greg Harraka said, “Awards are not something that is given or owed. They are earned through consistent actions and long-term commitment. This recognition belongs to our team, our trade partners, and our clients who place their trust in us every day.”

Coakley & Williams Construction creates the exceptional places and spaces in and around our nation’s capital where people live, learn, work and thrive,”
— 2026 Chair of the ABC National Board of Directors Thomas “Murph” Murphy.

The company’s connection to Associated Builders and Contractors dates to its earliest days. Founder Neil Coakley helped establish one of the organization’s early chapters, embedding the merit shop philosophy of open competition and opportunity into the company’s foundation.

Receiving ABC’s highest honor during the company’s 65th anniversary year makes the recognition especially meaningful. For more than six decades, the company has operated with what it calls the Build Mindset, the belief that every action contributes to building something meaningful.

While projects may define the work, the relationships built and the people developed define the legacy.
