A New Chapter at St. Anselm’s Abbey School
A vision more than seven decades in the making is now complete at St. Anselm’s Abbey School in Washington, DC.
On August 28, Cardinal Wilton Gregory, Archbishop Emeritus of Washington, joined students, faculty, staff, and members of the St. Anselm’s community to bless and dedicate the school’s new Benedictine Learning Center.
The 8,000-square-foot facility brings new learning, gathering, and spiritual spaces to the historic campus, including a dedicated chapel, library and resource center, flexible instructional spaces, admissions offices, Heritage Hall, a multipurpose classroom, and conference space. Organized around an outdoor courtyard, the new center creates opportunities for collaborative learning while complementing the character and traditions of the existing campus.
For St. Anselm’s, the completion carries special significance. The Benedictine Learning Center fulfills a piece of the school’s original master plan, 71 years after the cornerstone was laid.
Cardinal Gregory was also present to bless the project at its groundbreaking, bringing the journey full circle as he returned to bless the completed building.
For CWC, it was a privilege to help bring that longstanding vision to life and contribute a new chapter to a campus with such a rich history.
