CWC Project Manager Wins Award from Georgetown University
About the 2022 Tropaia Outstanding Student Award
We are proud to announce that CWC project manager Nick Yager was recently honored with the 2022 Tropaia Outstanding Student Award by the Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies Masters of Professional Studies in Real Estate (MPRE) program. Honorees animate Georgetown’s value through impressive academic performance, character, and service to their communities.
Nick’s capstone project analyzed the potential of building affordable senior housing at Gethsemane United Methodist Church (GUMC). In general, churches have declining congregations coupled with increasing expenses. Given that churches are often situated on large amounts of undeveloped land, Nick chose his Capstone analysis to investigate if churches can develop a sustainable income stream on their property.
Applying Expertise to Build a Better Future
Fortunately, Nick’s research will bring tangible results to the community. In a recent LinkedIn post, he wrote: “My analysis determined that if GUMC develops affordable senior housing on their excess land, then they will build a legacy to keep as a sustainable income stream of long-term financial security for generations to come. I am thrilled to report that my thesis will result in the development of affordable housing for the GUMC local community!”
In the same post, Nick thanked his instructors for their mentorship: “I’d like to thank my Capstone professor, Robert J Cristiano PhD, and thesis advisor, Chris Jackson, for their knowledge and guidance through my Capstone project. I look forward to positively impacting our communities through diverse construction projects.”
Nick joined CWC in February 2021 and has been an invaluable member of The Langley School project team, helping bring a state-of-the-art multi-purpose facility to the school’s campus: “I have had the pleasure to work with Nick over the last 12 months constructing The Crossroads Building for the Langley School. During that time it has become evident that Nick has a passion for details and a drive for perfection which is contagious. Nick is dedicated, driven, and committed to excellence,” said Superintendent & Partner Eric Van Why.
