Celebrating Family at CWC

Each year, we are excited to celebrate National Take Your Kids to Work Day. This event is not only an opportunity to educate and inspire young minds but also a chance to strengthen the bonds within our CWC family. This year, our Human Resources team planned a fun-filled day for our future builders!

Future Builders on the Job Site

The day began with an introductory presentation led by senior leaders Baboucarr Cham and Jon Fox, who spoke about our role as a General Contractor and the types of projects we build. The kids were taken on a tour of the office to learn more about our various departments and meet some of their parents’ co-workers. Following the office tour, we took a bus to our Bullis Lower School project in Potomac, MD, where they got to see the construction of a school building in progress!

Beyond the Classroom

After the project tour, we held a Chick-Fil-A lunch before doing a virtual scavenger hunt where kids were tasked with finding a list of items using OpenSpace, an AI-powered reality capture technology specifically for construction. Following the scavenger hunt, teams were given a Rube Goldberg Machine project where they were tasked with building a Marble Run. The Marble Runs were then timed by a stopwatch to determine the winner.

The kids’ building skills were put to the test with a fun Rube Goldberg project!

Family Fun in the Workplace

We concluded the day with an ice cream social for the parents and kids. As a special surprise, Director of IT Abou Haidara let the kids try out his virtual reality headset!

We were delighted to continue this longstanding tradition. We are not sure who had more fun - the parents or the kids!
