Urban Grape
Owner: Drink Progressively Group
Architect: Grizform Design Architects
Location: Washington, DC
Size: 4,400 SF
Urban Grape's first Washington, DC location brings the nationally recognized, Black-owned wine retailer's distinctive retail experience to the heart of the Shaw neighborhood. Built around the company's innovative "Progressive Scale," which organizes wines by body rather than varietal or region, the space was designed to create an approachable and engaging customer experience.
The interior fit-out transformed the space into a welcoming retail and hospitality destination featuring a curated wine retail area, tasting and drink-pouring station, fixed seating, and a private event room with a full bar. Behind the scenes, the project also included a catering staging area, back-of-house storage, office space, and support areas that enable seamless day-to-day operations while supporting private events and customer engagement.
