Marine Corps University's Academic & Research Complex expands the university's ability to educate future military leaders while preserving the history and legacy of the United States Marine Corps. Delivered through a CM at Risk design-build contract, the project brought together academic, research, cultural, and support facilities to strengthen the university's growing campus.
The project included a new Academic Instruction Facility with tiered classrooms, auditoriums, faculty offices, training rooms, and advanced distance learning technology, alongside a Research Center Addition featuring climate-controlled archival storage, public research spaces, classified document vaults, and SCIF environments. A performing arts center provides a dedicated venue for educational programming and Marine Corps Band performances with specialized theatrical systems, while a structured parking garage supports the expanding campus.
Constructed on an active military installation, the project required extensive coordination, secure infrastructure, complex building systems integration, and compliance with Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection standards. The completed campus achieved LEED Silver certification, reflecting a commitment to sustainability while supporting Marine Corps University's mission of education, research, and preservation.
