The Equipment and Maintenance Operation Center (EMOC) consolidates many of the County’s services at Crabbs Branch Way and I-370. This project spans 41 acres, featuring 13 buildings, including a 200-vehicle transit depot, two 100-vehicle highway maintenance depots, a heavy vehicle maintenance facility for 900 vehicles, administrative buildings, and a salt storage dome. The project also includes parking for over 1,000 vehicles and extensive sitework.

The new design maximized green space and minimized environmental impact by stacking administration, operations, and parking areas to create a compact, efficient layout. The facility was designed to achieve LEED Gold certification, incorporating green roofs, solar panels, and a rainwater reclamation system that reduces water use by 80%. Building Information Modeling (BIM) was employed for spatial coordination, clash detection, and 4D scheduling.
