The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) transformed its Washington, DC headquarters through a comprehensive renovation that reimagined the building as a modern, collaborative workplace. The project included a complete interior renovation featuring new offices, conference rooms, reception area, gallery and event space, modernized MEP systems, a new storefront, updated entrances, and multiple new stair connections.

One of the project's defining features was the creation of a dramatic multi-story light well by cutting through the existing structure and green roof to install a new skylight. This complex structural intervention allows natural daylight to filter from the roof to the ground floor, creating a visual connection between each level while transforming what was once a dark, enclosed interior into an open, light-filled workspace.

Inspired by the principles of landscape architecture, the headquarters incorporates exposed structural elements, natural materials, and thoughtfully designed lighting that supports occupant comfort and well-being, creating a workspace that reflects ASLA's mission and values.
