American Petroleum Institute (API) | Headquarters
Owner: American Petroleum Institute (API)
Architect: OTJ Architects
Location: Washington, DC
Size: 74,200 SF
The American Petroleum Institute (API) established its headquarters within Capitol Crossing, one of Washington, DC's premier mixed-use developments. As the first tenant to occupy 200 Massachusetts Avenue NW, the headquarters spans two full floors connected by a striking interconnecting stair that extends to a private penthouse level and rooftop terrace.
Designed to support a modern, collaborative workplace, the headquarters features executive offices, open workspaces, conference and meeting rooms, a divisible multipurpose room, board room, reception area, employee lounge with mezzanine, and integrated technology throughout. The project transformed the space into a cohesive corporate environment that balances sophisticated finishes, flexible gathering spaces, and functional workplace design while creating a dynamic headquarters for one of the nation's leading trade associations.
