The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) relocated its headquarters to a 23,839-square-foot office overlooking downtown Washington, DC. Designed by FOX Architects, the workspace draws inspiration from the movement and geometry of America's transportation network, translating the organization's mission into a dynamic and highly functional workplace.

Visitors are welcomed by a striking reception area anchored by a custom millwork desk and sculptural bookshelf that seamlessly transitions into a series of floating ceiling elements extending through the main corridor. Throughout the office, geometric forms, warm wood finishes, and expansive glass create visual connections between private offices, huddle rooms, collaborative spaces, and conference rooms. An operable glass partition allows the primary meeting space to expand for large gatherings and events, providing flexibility without sacrificing the clean, modern aesthetic. The completed headquarters delivers a refined workplace that balances openness, collaboration, and thoughtful design inspired by the infrastructure AASHTO helps shape.
