project
overview
Located at the corner of Rowe Boulevard and Farragut Road in Annapolis, the new Maryland Supreme Court is designed to support the evolving needs of Maryland’s highest courts while honoring the dignity and transparency of the judicial system.
The facility will include modern courtrooms, judicial chambers, administrative offices, public gathering spaces, the Maryland Law Library, and the Maryland Law Museum.
A defining element of the project is the careful dismantling and restoration of the historic Appellate Courtroom and architectural features. These historic elements will be restored offsite and integrated into the new building, preserving Maryland’s judicial heritage while advancing a forward-looking facility.
designed for
sustainability & security
The Maryland Supreme Court building is designed as a fully electric facility and is targeted to achieve LEED Silver certification. The building will operate without fossil fuels and incorporate advanced building systems to improve energy performance, resiliency, and long-term operational efficiency.
Enhanced security and life safety systems are being integrated throughout the courthouse to safeguard judges, staff, and visitors while maintaining an open civic presence appropriate for a state judicial facility.
