Maryland Tech Council recently spotlighted Coakley & Williams Construction in its April Maryland Life Sciences newsletter. “Innovation is important in the life sciences industry, and it happens best in spaces that are designed specifically to spur innovation. Coakley & Williams Construction [has] been working in the region for 60 years building spaces for multiple industries, including life sciences, where innovation can thrive,” says Marty Rosendale, Maryland Tech Council CEO.
Sprawling across 20-acres along I-270, Kite’s Urbana facility will be a cutting edge biomanufacturing facility for the production of T-Cell immunotherapies focused on curing cancer, delivering in 2021.
Building Spaces for Innovation
“Over the years, Coakley & Williams Construction has worked with biopharma and life sciences companies of differing sizes, from newer small organizations to larger established companies like Kite, AstraZeneca and Thermo Fisher Dynamic. The current vacancy rate for traditional lab space in the DMV is about 3%, making it difficult for many life sciences companies to find adequate space. To respond to this shortage, Coakley & Williams Construction has put a focus on life sciences.”
