A Home Court for Don Bosco Cristo Rey

For the first time in its history, Don Bosco Cristo Rey High School will have a home court of its own.

Ground has officially been broken on the school’s new Athletics & Community Center, a project that will give Don Bosco Cristo Rey students dedicated athletic and training facilities while creating a new gathering place for the entire school community.

Building More Than a Gym

Since opening in 2007, Don Bosco Cristo Rey has served students from low-income families throughout the Washington, D.C., area with a unique combination of college-preparatory education and real-world professional experience.

The school is part of the Cristo Rey Network and pairs academics with an innovative Corporate Work Study Program. Students spend one day each week gaining professional experience at businesses, organizations and institutions throughout the Washington region while helping offset the cost of their education.

The results speak for themselves: 100 percent of Don Bosco Cristo Rey graduates have been accepted to four-year colleges, with many becoming the first members of their families to attend college.

Now, the school is adding something its students have never had before.

A Home for Don Bosco Athletics

The new Athletics & Community Center will feature a regulation-size gymnasium, fitness and weight room, and gathering space for the school community.

For Don Bosco Cristo Rey’s student-athletes, that means something especially significant: their first-ever home court and dedicated training facilities.

It’s a major addition to a school built around creating opportunities for its students—and one that will serve the Don Bosco Cristo Rey community for years to come.

CWC is proud to be part of bringing it to life.
