Construction Underway at The Langley School
The Coakley & Williams Construction (CWC) team recently broke ground at The Langley School in McLean, VA, along with cox graae + spack (Architect), Capital Projects Management Firm (Owner’s Rep) and members of The Langley School community.
This unique project involves demolishing an existing library on campus before constructing the Crossroads Building, a 33,570 sf facility that will house the primary school, fifth grade, library and media center, and a large multi-purpose space.
Building the Future
The school serves children from pre-school through grade eight, so it is not surprising that the building is designed for versatility. The primary school classrooms feature open footprints that allow teachers to design and arrange the space for a variety of learning activities. Breakout rooms can be found attached to kindergarten classrooms, which can be used as meeting spaces for math and reading specialists. Other innovative features include lockers with built-in charging ports for Chromebooks and a technology maker space, where STEAM and technology classes will be taught.
New Beginnings
To bid farewell to the existing library, students and faculty, along with CWC, signed the interior walls of the building during the final weeks of the school year.
The Crossroads Building is anticipated to deliver in August 2022, just before the start of the school year. You can watch the new building come to life in real-time with the help of a time-lapse camera stationed on campus.
