Full STEAM Ahead On New Madeira School Construction

Virginia’s #1 Boarding School for girls in grades 9-12, The Madeira School in McLean, Virginia, recently celebrated the grand opening of their new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) Academic Center. Designed by Centerbrook Architects, with Fortis as the Owner’s Rep and Coakley & Williams Construction as the General Contractor, this Design-Build cutting-edge 35,000 sf interdisciplinary building is now home to various facilities, including a Robotics Lab, Makers Space, Ceramics Studio, Physics Lab, Digital Arts Studio, Dark Room, Mathematics Classrooms, Chemistry Lab, Biology Lab, Biochemistry Lab, and a spacious flex space designed for large gatherings.

Head of School, Christina Kay Kyong, had these remarks before cutting the ribbon:

“Learning is coming alive in this building. It is indeed a new day for #STEAM. This is just the beginning.”
