Curing Cancer and Creating Jobs

Urbana, MD — The Coakley & Williams Construction team along with Kite Pharma recently celebrated the topping out of the Kite TCF05 Cell Therapy Manufacturing Facility and the monumental success of the safety on site. This new cancer research facility can be seen from the I-270 Maryland highway in Frederick County.

Once complete, the Kite TCF05 Cell Therapy Manufacturing Facility will be a cutting edge biomanufacturing facility for the production of T-Cell therapies focused on curing cancer. The 20-acre site will include a 200,000 square-foot manufacturing building, a 60,000 square-foot office building, and 900 parking spaces.

An article from Technical.ly Baltimore stated that, “The Maryland Department of Commerce is providing assistance in the form of a $2 million conditional loan from the Advantage Maryland Fund and a $200,000 workforce training grant through the Partnership for Workforce Quality program.” They also note that, “a minimum of 352 employees [will be employed] by Dec. 2025 at the new facility.”

The Kite Pharma TCF05 Cell Therapy Manufacturing Facility has over 1,525 tons of steel.

According to a recent update from Coakley & Williams Construction Senior Project Manager, Bruce Garnant, the project is expected to be delivered in 2021.
