Preble Hall Museum

In little more than a year, Preble Hall was transformed into a modern facility in which every location throughout the building meets the demanding curatorial standards of temperature, humidity, and lighting needed by a modern museum. The workmanship and attention to detail are all tribute to high standards expected, and realized, by your team and the subcontractors they managed....everything throughout the renovated Preble Hall is finished to the highest standard. It has been a great privilege to work with members of the Coakley & Williams’ team. Throughout the process they treated me almost as a member of their team, consulting with me and determining my vision for the museum. The result is far beyond my most ambitious hopes.

In addition to major interior renovation in the existing building, the project included complicated historic preservation issues...This required flexibility on site among many trades, close collaboration...and a high level of sensitivity and understanding of the preservation issues addressed by the Maryland State Historic Preservation Office.
When the project began, the Museum Director provided the Coakley & Williams team with a strict construction schedule to provide the base building in time for the scheduled exhibit installation. He proclaimed that ‘failure was not an option.’ It is my opinion that a lesser construction team would have greatly disappointed the director...I can honestly say that this construction team was a pleasure to work with, and as a team, they provided a seamless and coordinated effort to complete the renovation project on time and on budget.
